Mbappe entered his last year from Saint-Germain without renewing his contract, while Liverpool is trying to secure the future of its Egyptian star by extending the contract between them, which expires in the summer of 2023.
“Mohamed Salah is not the type to start demanding twice as much,” Murphy told TalkSPORT.
“I think that if Kylian Mbappe leaves next summer, Paris Saint-Germain will want to replace Mbappe with a star who can score goals. There is nothing better than Salah to do that.”
“I hope that Salah does not want to leave for Paris Saint-Germain,” he continued.
A few days ago, the Mirror newspaper indicated that Salah had asked for 500,000 pounds as a weekly salary in order to agree to extend his contract with Liverpool, while the Liverpool Echo newspaper reported that what Salah had requested did not reach half a million pounds, as was rumored, and that negotiations to extend the contract are underway.
He continued, “In the past, there were some rumors about Salah’s desire to play in Spain. But if you are talking about playing in Spain to fulfill a childhood dream, it is completely different from the pursuit of money.”
And he continued, “Salah does not seem unhappy in Liverpool, when you watch him play, you see that he is in the best mood, full of energy, full of desire.”
And the former Tottenham player added, “He does not look like a player who is tired of his place and has lost his desire to be the best.”
He concluded, “I would not be surprised if Salah signed his new contract with Liverpool in the next two months.”
