On a night when Argentine fans attended a match for their national team for the first time since the outbreak of the Corona virus pandemic, captain Lionel Messi cried while raising the Copa America Cup at the Monumental Stadium.
Argentina won the Copa America in July, their first major title in 28 years, and Messi celebrated with his teammates under the eyes of 21,000 spectators.

“There is no better way to celebrate than to be here,” Messi said. “My mother is here and also all my siblings. They suffered a lot while they are here to celebrate. I am very happy.”
This came before the tango dancers faced Bolivia in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers at dawn on Friday, which ended with the Argentine trio, Messi was the hero.
Argentina ranks second in the qualifiers behind Brazil.
