Zakaria Ibrahim, coach of the National Guard, the champion of Niger, confirmed that his team will play a big match against Al-Ahly in the African Champions League, noting that winning the competition title will not be easy.
Al-Ahly is preparing to face the National Guard in the 32nd round of the African Champions League in mid-October, at the start of the campaign to defend its title.
Ibrahim said, in telephone statements to “On Time Sports 1” channel: “I think it will be a big match. We will play against a big team, which is Al-Ahly Club, but my team’s ambition is to win the match.”
He added, “Al-Ahly is a strong team and has strong players, but at the same time I think that there may be some weaknesses that can be exploited, especially in defense, and we will strive if we have the opportunity to win this match.”
He continued, “Pitso Mosimane is a great technical manager in Africa and was technical director of the South African national team. He knows what he should do and what he needs from the players and always plays strongly and motivates his team players and is considered a great addition to Al-Ahly.”
He continued: “Being over Al-Ahly is not easy at all, but we will do everything we have to win this match, and therefore there is some pressure after Al-Ahly won the African Championship last season.”
He continued, “We know that Al-Ahly has some problems that we hope to exploit after Zamalek outperformed it and won the league championship. Zamalek is currently better than Al-Ahly, and therefore it can lose a match if we insist on winning.”
And the technical director of the National Guard concluded his statements, saying: “I cannot tell the secrets of my plan that I will play against Al-Ahly, whether it is offensive or defensive, and what I can say is that I will perform in the appropriate manner.”
