The Paralympic delegation begins its return trip to Cairo from Tokyo


Today, Sunday, the Egyptian delegation for the Paralympic Games will start the return trip from Tokyo in preparation for arrival at eleven in the morning tomorrow, Monday, where the delegation is scheduled to be received at the airport by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

A press conference is scheduled to be held in the Olympic Center immediately upon the arrival of the mission, attended by all the medalists in this session, where Egypt won 7 medals, 5 silver and 2 bronze by: Fatima Omar, Sherif Othman, Mahmoud Sabry Rehab Radwan, Mohamed Sobhi and Hani Abdel-Hadi in weightlifting, as well as Muhammad Al-Zayat in Paratikondo.

The Egyptian mission participating in the Paralympic Games in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, was subjected to a smear for the detection of the Corona virus, by the Paralympic Organizing Committee, and the results of the smears were received at the end of yesterday, Saturday, five hours after it was conducted, before the mission returned to Egypt in the next few hours. .

This participation is the thirteenth appearance of the Egyptian delegation in the Paralympic Games, as it was the first participation in the 1972 edition in Heidelberg, West Germany.

Egypt managed to achieve 179 medals over the course of its participation in the Paralympic Games, with 49 gold, 65 silver and 65 bronze.

In the Rio de Janeiro 2016 tournament, the Egyptian delegation participated with 45 athletes, 34 male and 11 female, and they succeeded in obtaining 12 various medals, including 3 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze.

It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian delegation is participating in the Paralympic Games with 49 male and female players representing eight different games, which are weightlifting, swimming, table tennis, athletics, badminton, seating volleyball, Para Taekwondo, and women’s goal ball.
