A woman has died and a man was injured after actor Alec Baldwin fired a firearm that was supposed to be loaded with bullets while filming in New Mexico.

Hutchins, 42, was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital, where doctors soon announced her death, while Sousa, 48, was injured and left the hospital after a short period.
“Police have questioned Baldwin,” Santa Fe police spokesman Juan Rios told AFP, adding that the actor “made his statement and answered some questions.”
He pointed out that the star “voluntarily attended” the police station “and left it after the investigation was completed”, stressing that “no judicial accusations were brought and no one was arrested.”
Police are continuing their investigations to find out the circumstances of the accident that occurred at the Bonanza Creek ranch, a well-known filming location in the area, for the filming of Western films.
The police indicated that “investigators are seeking to know the type of projectile that was fired” from the weapon and the circumstances in which it happened.
According to her personal website, the director of photography, Haliana Hutchins, was from Ukraine and had grown up on a Soviet military base. She studied journalism in Kiev, and cinema in Los Angeles, and was a rising star of photography.

The International Cinematographers Guild mourned Hutchins, describing her death as a “huge loss”.
