Queen Elizabeth spent an entire night in hospital for “initial checks”, according to Buckingham Palace, before returning to Windsor Castle on Thursday in high spirits.
Buckingham Palace said: “Following a medical recommendation to rest for several days, the Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for an initial check-up and returned to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today in good spirits.”
A royal source stated that the Queen remained in the hospital and that her medical team had taken a precautionary approach.
The source added that she returned to her office to work on Thursday afternoon and did some light tasks.
Queen Elizabeth spent Tuesday night hosting a party at Windsor Castle for a group of prominent business leaders, including Bill Gates, after Prime Minister Boris Johnson held a green investment conference ahead of the climate summit.
The Queen, the world’s longest-reigning monarch, appeared in good health, and greeted the guests with a smile.
The 95-year-old canceled an official trip to Northern Ireland on Wednesday as the palace said her medical staff had recommended her to rest and that it was not a case of Covid-19.
