Elon Musk expands the difference as the richest person in the world and makes fun of Bezos

The co-founder of Tesla responded to a tweet from Bezos early Monday with a silver medal emoji after the gap between the world’s two richest people widened last week with the growing valuation of Musk’s rocket company, SpaceX. His net worth is now $222 billion, while Amazon.com founder Bezos has a net worth of $190.8 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The gulf has risen in controversies between the two billionaires trying to revolutionize the space industry.

Bezos’ subsidiary, Blue Origin, is challenging A US government contract with SpaceX to develop technology to land people on the moon againMusk previously took to Twitter to call the Amazon founder a “copy cat” song for his e-commerce company’s space-focused projects.

In a file recently submitted to US regulators, the Amazon satellite company also accused Musk and his companies of breaching regulations with a public attitude that “the rules also belong to other people.”

In a tweet late Sunday, Bezos posted a photo of a 1999 article from Barron’s that criticized Amazon as one of many stories that predicted his company’s demise.

Musk, 50, added about $11 billion to his fortune Friday after an agreement with investors that valued SpaceX at more than $100 billion, more than four times the size of Blue Origin, according to Bloomberg’s Wealth Index.

Musk still derives about three-quarters of his fortune from Tesla, which he co-founded in 2003 after he made a fortune selling e-commerce site PayPal to eBay for $1.5 billion.
