FilGoal | News | Inzaghi Conference: Returning again to Olympique… and the position of South American players towards facing Lazio

Inter coach Filippo Inzaghi returns to the Stadio Olimpico when Lazio meets his former side expecting to be booed and applauded.

Inter will visit Lazio in the eighth round of the Italian League, tomorrow, Saturday, at six in the evening.

Inzaghi said at the press conference: “It’s not a match like the others for me, it’s a return to my home for 22 years, it will be exciting to see the players who have always given everything for me and the people behind the scenes who have always been special.”

“In addition, seeing the Lazio fans, who were very important to me. Together in these years we have reached big goals that have not been achieved for a long time.”

“I know there will be boos and applause, but it’s part of the job. I’m going to accept them, and they know I’ve always given everything.”

And he added about the return of players from the national teams: “We are trying to be ready, unfortunately we were few here, but they worked in the best possible way. The European players came back with some minor problems. We are waiting for the South American players.”

He continued: “It already happened against Sampdoria (after the last international break), but we played on Sunday, this time especially. Sanchez and Vidal will not come to Rome, they will stay in Milan, they will be useful on Tuesday (Champions League).”

“Stefano Sensi has trained fairly well over the past few days, but still can’t kick right because of the sprain, but we hope to get him back on Tuesday.”

“I will talk to the South American players, and we will see how they are. In La Liga they did a good job postponing matches, but this is an issue that had to be addressed before, we know we have other alternatives in those roles. I will have to assess how the South Americans will reach Rome”.

On facing Lazio under the leadership of Maurizio Sarri, he continued: “I think Lazio played some excellent matches, they are a well-built team, a new coach has arrived and he is very good in organizing teams.”

He added, “They are playing excellent matches, but they lost the last game, so they will be angry and want to play well.”

“We have to be good in both phases of the match,” he concluded.

Inter is third with 17 points, while Lazio is sixth with 11 points.
