The former Liverpool legend, Ian Rush, confirmed that all clubs in the world want to include the Egyptian player, Mohamed Salah, the star of the “Reds”, noting that he knows of Salah’s desire to stay at “Anfield”.
Mohamed Salah moved to Liverpool in July 2017, coming from Rome, Italy, and his contract with the “Reds” expires at the end of June 2023.
Rush said, during his interview with the newspaper “Liverpool Echo”: “I spoke to Mo (Salah) last season and he told me that he wants to be the best in the world, and he is doing this now .. He is the best player in the world.”
He added: “Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Manchester United and is doing well, and Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain, and he needs some time to adapt, but Salah has reached a different level.”
He continued: “He has really improved this season, it is not only about scoring goals (and people will say that he is selfish), but he has also provided assists this season, such as the goal that Sadio Mane scored against Manchester City.
Rush revealed: “Salah scored great goals and was the fastest to reach 100 goals with the team, all of this is great, but he plays with the team as well. Records can be broken, but he needs to avoid injuries, Salah rarely gets injured, so we will see if he can.” He broke that record.”
He continued: “I talk to Mo a lot. I met him at the Leeds match (in September) and I was talking to him and he joked to me: (How did you really score 300 goals!?), But I had to tell him that it was 346 goals.”
On the future of Salah and the extension of his contract with Liverpool, Rush said: “Every team in the world wants to include Salah, but I know that he will love to stay in Liverpool, there is no fan in the world who will love Salah as Liverpool fans do .. There is no doubt about that.”
And he added: “The situation is difficult, and I know that Jurgen Klopp will want him to continue. I think everything is fine and both parties are happy.”
Rush continued, “People talk about football legends, and Salah is already one of them, but I want people like me, Steven Gerrard and Kenny Dalglish to remember him.”
And he concluded: “We all love what Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez did in the team shirt, but they left after a few years… In order to be a true legend, he must stay at the club for 8 or 9 years, and I hope to see Salah do that.”
