A state of great anticipation prevails throughout Al-Ahly Club, awaiting the decisive day in receiving the applications of candidates to run in the new Red Castle elections 2021-2025.
A source in Al-Ahly said, in exclusive statements to Lilacoura, that there is a state of anticipation and intense ties, contacts and meetings taking place in the current hours with the aim of linking the threads and resolving the final position on contesting the elections, whether on the list of Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the current club president, or outside it.
The source added that Al-Khatib had settled on his list, but it might witness minor changes during the next few hours with the entry of Hossam Ghaly, the former Red Team player and captain, into an over-age membership.
He explained that Mahmoud Al-Khatib’s list, which will be announced on Friday, may witness another change, that it will include Amri Farouk as Vice Chairman, Khaled Murtaji as Treasurer, and for the over-aged membership, Muhammad Shawqi, Muhammad al-Damati, Muhammad al-Ghazawi, Tariq Qandil, Hussam Ghaly, Muhammad Serraj and Khaled Abdel Qader, and for the underage membership is Muhammad Jamal al-Jarhi. He stressed that until that moment, there is a contemplation of the entry of MP Muhammad al-Sallab or Muhannad Magdy as an alternative to Muhammad Siraj on the over-age list.
The source pointed out that Khaled Murtaji is living one of the most difficult periods of his life, as it was decided that he would run for the position of treasurer within the Bebo list after contacts and a quick session with Mahmoud Al-Khatib so that there would be a confrontation looming between the “immortals” Murtaji and Al-Dirandali for the same position, especially that the latter I decided to enter the elections independently.
He added that the trio of Ibrahim Al-Kafrawi, Rania Alwani and Jawhar Nabil are still studying their position regarding the elections for membership as independents after they were excluded from the list, but their income rates do not exceed 15% only.
The source explained that there are intense contacts on the horizon with the aim of pushing one of the candidates for the position of deputy so that Al-Amri Farouk does not win by acclamation, in addition to the expectation that there will be surprises that may appear and Ahmed Magdy Al-Haywan may contest the elections for the position of underage membership.
The penultimate day witnessed the official candidacy of Khaled Suleiman Abul-Ela for the position of president of Al-Ahly, and Manar Saeed, as an independent member, and Al-Amri Farouk for the position of Vice-President, Muhammad Al-Ghazawi as an over-age member, and May Atef under-age on Mahmoud Al-Khatib’s list.
The duo Omar Rabie Yassin and Abdel Rahman Al-Ayachi had submitted papers to run for the Al-Ahly Board of Directors elections under the age, in addition to Dr. Ahmed Ghait over the age.
It is scheduled to close the door for receiving applications for candidates at seven in the evening tomorrow, Friday, and that the elections will take place on the 25th and 26th of November.
According to Al-Ahly’s special bylaw, the board of directors consists of 12 individuals, the president, the vice president, the treasurer, and 9 members, including two members for youth under the age of 35 on the date of the nomination window.
