Paris Saint-Germain player Kylian Mbappe confirmed that his adventure with the French team is over, adding that Lionel Messi’s move to the Princes Stadium did not change his view because he does not make sudden decisions.
During his statements to the French newspaper L’Equipe, Mbappe talked about his future and his connection to the move to Real Madrid.
“Real Madrid is the only club that could have facilitated my departure from Paris this summer,” Mbappe said.
He added: “Before the euro, I told the club that I did not want to extend, and after the euro I said I wanted to leave, I would have liked to get the best possible deal to get out “through the front door, avoiding the free departure.”
And the French player continued: “I am still in a great team and in a place where I have been happy for four years. I did not think of clashing with the club’s management because it would be ungrateful. I am grateful to this club.”
And about playing with Messi, Mbappe replied: “I did not imagine Messi leaving Barcelona and joining Paris. He is one of the players I put in a category (it is impossible to play next to him in one team).”
He continued: “I felt the same feeling, but to a lesser degree, when Neymar joined the team, it was a great step, but Messi is something else.”
He continued: “I enjoy every moment next to him. Playing alongside Messi is a great pride. He loves football. He is a shy person, but not on the field.”
He explained: “When you have Messi in your team, you know that he has to make a little effort, to store his energy and be more ready to score. I didn’t mind running for Messi. This is not a problem.. He is Messi anyway.”
When asked if Messi’s joining Paris made him retract his departure from the club, he said: “No, because I do not take sudden decisions, but I decided after thinking for a long time.”
And he added: “I quickly overcame the failure of my departure, but unfortunately I was injured in the national team camp in early September, and then I came back quickly, scored and performed well.”
And about his association with the move to Real Madrid, he said: “I feel that my adventure is over, and I am looking for a different experience after 7 seasons in the French League. I did everything in my power for Paris, and achieved great things, so leaving was the logical step.”
And he continued, “When Nasser Al-Khelaifi (the club president) announced in front of the whole world at the Messi presentation conference, that I would not leave and would not leave for free, I was relatively worried, and I said to myself what would happen to me?
Asked whether he would leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, the young Frenchman replied: “In football, the truth of yesterday does not have to be the truth of today or tomorrow. If it was said that Messi would play in Paris, I would not have imagined that, so we cannot know what will happen.”
He concluded: “I needed to clarify my position, and I think the time is right to break the silence, as I could not speak all summer.”
