The football team of Al-Ahly Club performed poorly against the National Guard, the champion of Niger, to end the match with a 1-1 draw, in the first leg of the 32nd round of the African Champions League, at General Seni Konche Stadium in the capital, Niamey.

Tunisian Ali Maaloul, the left-back of the team, managed to score the first goals of Al-Ahly in the Red Genie’s journey in the African Champions League, with a penalty kick in the 19th minute of the first half.

In the 75th minute of the match, Jibril Diora, the National Guard player, scored the equalizer due to a positioning error from Al-Ahly players.

Al-Ahly entered the National Guard match with a formation consisting of:

Goalkeeper: Ali Lotfi.

Defense lines: Muhammad Hani, Yasser Ibrahim, Ayman Ashraf and Ali Maaloul.

Midfield: Amr Al-Sulayya, Hamdi Fathi and Alio Diang.

Forwards: Taher Mohamed Taher, Mahmoud Kahraba and Mohamed Sharif.

Sitting on the bench were:

Mustafa Schubert, Hamza Alaa, Rami Rabea, Walid Suleiman, Badr Banoon, Mohamed Mahmoud, Akram Tawfiq, and Ahmed Nabil Kouka.

Al-Ahly suffered throughout the match by scoring a second goal and enhancing the chance to win. In fact, Al-Ahly’s performance declined in the second half in attempts by the Red Genie players shyly against Al-Ahly’s net.

Al-Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane did not provide the performance required of him in his first match in the start of the African Champions League, where no enthusiasm appeared from the players in order to win.

The Red Genie missed 12 players in this match, namely Hossam Hassan, Percy Tau, Louis Miccesoni, Karim Fouad, Ammar Hamdy and Ahmed Abdel Qader, due to the lack of African restriction.

Absent from the match were Mohamed Magdy Afsha for celebrating his wedding and obtaining permission from the technical staff, and Mohamed El-Shennawy, Mahmoud Metwally, Mahmoud Waheed, Hussein El-Shahat and Salah Mohsen due to injury.

Al-Ahly News learned, from sources close to the Red Castle, that Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the president of Al-Ahly, is very angry because of Musimani’s poor performance with the Al-Ahly football team.

The sources added that Al-Khatib intends to deal a severe blow to Musimani if he fails to win the return match against the National Guard, develop the players’ performance and qualify for the group stage.

Despite Al-Ahly’s assurances that Musimani will complete his contract with the Red Castle, if he leaves the African Champions League in the next match, Musimani will not complete one day in the team’s training and will be sacked immediately.

There is a great crisis of confidence between the technical staff and the Planning Committee headed by Mohsen Saleh, which demanded the dismissal of Musimani as soon as possible and the appointment of a new coach to change the team’s performance and development.

Musimani lost with Al-Ahly the Premier League and the Super League against the Vanguards of the Army last season, and he remains to compete for 3 African Super Cups, the Egypt Cup, and the Club World Cup.

Al-Ahly will play the return match against the National Guard, in the second leg of the 32nd round of the African Champions League, on the 23rd of this month at Wei Al Salam Stadium.
