Engineer Naguib Sawiris commented on the movie “Rishes”, which sparked controversy over the past few days, after it was shown at the El Gouna Film Festival.
Sawiris said in his post on his personal page on Twitter, Friday: “I watched the movie from half past one in the morning until four in the morning, and it has distinct artistic aspects in terms of the story of the struggle of a mother in a poor family and a miserable father, and a deep representation of a mother who does not speak much.” But she struggles for the family in a difficult society without compromising her honor or dignity.”
He continued, “The end shocked me after she found her husband, and I do not see that the film offends Egypt at all, on the contrary, we must remember our poor, so that we can work together, the government and the people, to eliminate it.”
He added, “Does he deserve the award or not? Because he is also slow? I leave the judgment to the critics and the audience because he thought of me about the Korean film Parasite, which won the Palme d’Or.”
