A Madrid court has sentenced Bayern Munich and France defender Lucas Hernandez to six months in prison for violating a court ruling after being convicted of violence against his wife in 2017.

An appeal by Lucas Hernandez to a Madrid criminal court against a previous suspended prison sentence for defying the court’s ruling has been rejected, a court document released on Wednesday said.

The document added that the appeal was rejected because Hernandez had two previous criminal sentences, both related to the incident that occurred in February 2017.

Representatives for Bayern Munich and Lucas Hernandez did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

He was ordered to appear in court in Madrid on October 19, and he has ten days to voluntarily enter prison.

The 25-year-old France international defender appealed against the latest ruling.

Hernandez was sentenced to 31 days of community service for assaulting his then-girlfriend and his current wife in February 2017, when he was a player for Atletico Madrid.

The court issued a decision banning him from being within 500 meters of his girlfriend.

Hernandez was arrested in June 2017 after violating the court’s decision after arriving in Madrid with his wife after their marriage and honeymoon.

The French defender made his debut for Atletico Madrid in 2014, before joining Bayern Munich in 2019 for 80 million euros.

Lucas Hernandez participated in 29 matches with the French national team, and won the 2018 World Cup with the “Rooster”, and lifted the European Nations League Cup 2021, last Sunday.
