revealed Ministry of Health About the mechanism by which the AIDS virus inside the body causes weakening of immunity, noting that AIDS is defined as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and indicates the advanced stage of HIV infection.

The ministry added that the virus attacks a specific type of white blood cell known as CD4, which leads to weakening the immune system.

The Ministry of Health had revealed the difference between HIV infection and AIDS. The ministry said that HIV is the virus that causes infection, while AIDS is a group of opportunistic diseases and infections that occur when HIV destroys the immune system.

The ministry added that HIV infection is an advanced stage of the disease and it is not necessary for a person infected with HIV to reach the stage of AIDS.

The Ministry of Health advised citizens to go to the nearest health unit to detect diseases transmitted from the mother to the fetus such as hepatitis B, syphilis and human immunodeficiency virus and treat them for free within the initiative of the President of the Republic to support the health of the mother and fetus, pointing out that the centers operate daily from 8 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon.
