The failure to adhere to the preventive measures against the Corona virus at the concert of the Egyptian artist, Amr Diab, in the Ayla Oasis in the Aqaba Governorate, angered many Jordanians.
Activists on social media circulated videos showing the large number of attendees at the Egyptian artist’s concert, which was held yesterday evening, Friday, in the city of Aqaba.
Amr Diab’s concert was held in a closed arena, with up to 4,000 seats.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian Ministry of Interior published pictures of the inspection procedures for vaccinations and public safety in the Ayla Oasis in the Aqaba Governorate by the concerned authorities for the concert of the Egyptian artist Amr Diab.
The Vice President of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Commissioner of Tourism, Sharhabeel Madi, had confirmed weeks ago that all closed events, including Amr Diab’s concert, will be subject to strict and strict procedures according to the health protocol.
The website dedicated to selling Amr Diab concert tickets announced that all tickets for the concert were sold out within a quarter of an hour from opening the registration door to attend the concert.
The ceremony sparked widespread controversy on social media, as it divided the opinions of Jordanians between a supporter of holding a party that extinguishes the flames of their longing for parties after an interruption imposed by the Corona pandemic, and another who opposed the idea of holding the ceremony, clinging to the “principles” of the economic, epidemiological and health situation, as reasons for preventing the ceremony.
Citizens expressed their anger and their complete rejection of holding parties that missed the application of the health protocol issued by the Ministry of Health, whether it was at the Jerash Festival, at Tamer Hosni’s concert or at Amr Diab’s concert, which witnessed a remarkable presence from the masses of Arab artists.
For his part, the head of the Parliamentary Health Committee in Jordan, Representative, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sarahneh, called on the government to stop issuing defense orders after the severe failure to control festivals and mass parties, noting that it is not possible to ask citizens to abide by defense orders, and the government allows them to be violated without consequences.
Al-Sarahna added to “Jordan 24” that the committee expected that the government would control gatherings and parties that allow them to be held, but this did not happen, and therefore it is necessary now to open all sectors without conditions and return to normal life.
