Uma Naidua, a nutrition psychiatrist and faculty member at Harvard Medical School, warns that gut bacteria can stimulate metabolic processes and encephalitis that affects memory.

And the psychiatrist revealed that current studies have found that dementia can be reduced by avoiding foods that can compromise gut bacteria and impair memory and concentration.

These foods are:

1- sugars

A high-sugar diet increases glucose in the brain, which leads to poor memory, so eating foods full of sugar, such as baked goods and soft drinks, adds large amounts of glucose to your brain. Although every body needs a different amount of glucose, the American Heart Association recommends that women consume no more than 25 grams of added sugar per day, and men less than 36 grams.

2- fried foods

One study of 18,080 people found that a diet rich in fried foods was associated with a significant decrease in learning and memory, as fried food causes inflammation that damages the blood vessels that supply blood to the brain. Another study of 715 people revealed that those who ate a lot of fried foods were more likely to develop depression.

3- Carbohydrates

Although some people think that high-carb foods made with refined flour are far from sugar, your body processes it the same way it handles sugar, which increases the risk of depression, but don’t cut out low-sugar carbs. The researchers discovered that people who ate low-sugar carbs were 30% less likely to be depressed than those who ate high-sugar carbs.

According to cnbcCarbohydrates that are high in sugar include white bread, potatoes and white rice, orange juice and honey have medium sugar, and green vegetables, most fruits, carrots, beans, chickpeas, and lentils are low in sugar. .

4- Nitrates

Nitrates are used as preservatives and as a color-enhancing agent in cured meats such as salami and sausages, but nitrates have been linked to depression, and one recent study suggests that nitrates can alter gut bacteria toward bipolar disorder.
