Dar Al Iftaa clarifies the ruling on burning a paper from the Noble Qur’an for fear of neglect.. Video

Is it permissible to burn a sheet of the Qur’an lying on the ground for fear of neglect? This question was submitted to the Egyptian Dar Al Ifta, during the live broadcast that the house conducted on its official page on the social networking site “Facebook”, which is the broadcast that the house conducts on a daily basis to answer the questions and requests of the fatwa for the followers.

And he answered the question during the live broadcast, Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Sami, Secretary of the Fatwa at the Egyptian Dar al-Ifta, saying: “Yes, it is permissible, and this is the best and this is the Sunnah.”

In detailing the fatwa, “The Seventh Day” publishes the answer of the Egyptian Dar Al Iftaa to a question that reads: “How to dispose of the old Qurans that are not useful after they have been consumed, torn, old, and not knowing how to read them, and will they be burned?” The response of the house was as follows: “The Qur’an is the word of God.” The trustworthy spirit descended upon our master Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, to guide people and to clarify the rulings by which God worshiped people and commissioned them to follow them.”

وفتعت House of Fatwa Al-Masryah: “The Qur’an is a reciting revelation that the Messenger heard from the revelation, preserved it with its words and phrases, comprehended it, conveyed it as he heard it to his companions, and called them to memorize it and understand its meanings and act upon it, so they memorized it and acted upon its rulings. God Almighty in His Mighty Book: {Indeed, it is a noble Qur’an, in a hidden book, which none touches except the purified}. [الواقعة: 77-79]And Muslims have received it generation after generation, and every Muslim must preserve the Book of God and not expose it to humiliation and loss, by collecting it and placing it in a cover such as a wrapped leather or thick cloth, and then placing it in a place where he can maintain and preserve it so that its leaves do not fly And it is subject to insult, and the Muslim must preserve the Book of God by various means of memorization that preserve the Book of God from tampering and disregard. One of the means is that he must collect it and put it or throw it into the sea. Because the water will remove the trace of writing, and then it will turn into ordinary papers that quickly erode, and if he cannot do that, he must send his papers to the Documentation House to preserve them.

And the Dar al-Iftaa concluded: “But if the pages of the Qur’an or some of its papers are torn and a person is not able to learn how to read it, and it is not possible to benefit from it, and it is not available for him to memorize it in any of the other places mentioned above, and he is also not able to throw it into the sea, then there is no objection to him. Burn it if it is not possible for him to preserve it – “Fatwas of Imam Abdul Halim Mahmoud” (1/254) because disrespecting the Noble Qur’an is one of the biggest taboos, and it was the cause of disaster for some princes who underestimated its sanctity, so God tore them apart.
