Discover the remains of an ancient mosque in the middle of a lake

Aerial footage showed pictures of a mosque that was submerged in water in Lake Ramsko, and appeared to the public due to the low water level in Bazor Rama, located in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the 1960s, the former Yugoslavia built hydroelectric power stations in the region, which led to the creation of large artificial lakes with the help of dam reservoirs.

As a result, many villages were inundated with water, displacing their residents from their homes. When the water recedes due to clouds or increases in electricity production, the lake reveals the remains of homes, mosques, minarets and orchards.

Ramsko Lake was created during the construction of the Rama Dam in 1968, on the Rama River, which served as a reservoir used by the Rama Hydroelectric Power Station.
