“I congratulate Messi, he is an amazing player and a football legend,” Zahavi said in statements to the German “TZ Munich” website today, Tuesday.
And he added, “But in 2021 the Ballon d’Or does not belong to him, not this time, it belongs to Robert Lewandowski.”
And he continued, “Lewandowski did not steal, but he was more than deserving of the award. I am not surprised that hundreds of millions of fans around the world find it difficult to believe the results of this valuable award.”
And he concluded, “The party that took place yesterday, Monday, should have ended with Lewandowski’s celebration of his first golden ball.”
Messi won the seventh Ballon d’Or in his career, while Lewandowski came second in the race, followed by Jorginho, a Chelsea and Italy player.
Lewandowski won the award for the best striker of the year.
