Most speculations point to the Argentine star Lionel Messi, the Paris Saint-Germain striker, winning the Ballon d’Or, which is awarded annually by “France Football” magazine to the best player in the world.
And the former French national team defender, Patrice Evra, posted a picture of him with Lionel Messi when they were players in Manchester United and Barcelona, respectively, on his page on the “Instagram” application, and commented on it in English: “Congratulations to Leo Messi for winning another golden ball.”
The famous Spanish journalist on the “Chirengeto” television program, Josep Pedrol, confirmed, in turn, through his account on the “Twitter” website, that the Argentine “flea” will win the Ballon d’Or for the seventh time in his career.
The Portuguese network, “RTP”, said, in a recent report, that the French striker, Paris Saint-Germain, will be crowned with the Ballon d’Or for 2021.
And the media network stated in its report that the famous French magazine “France Football”, which presents the “Golden Ball” for the best football player in the world annually, contacted Messi and informed him that he was the winner of the award for this year.
The Spanish journalist also referred to a surprise related to the French striker Karim Benzema, Real Madrid’s striker, occupying second place in the vote, leaving third place to Polish star Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich’s top scorer.
Messi also topped the list of the most fortunate stars to win the Ballon d’Or, according to a poll conducted by the Spanish newspaper “Marca”.
Messi received 34% of the votes of the readers of the Madrid newspaper “MARCA”, despite the departure of “Flea” from the Spanish League and Barcelona, and his move to the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain, during the last summer Mercato.
Benzema came second in the referendum with 26% of the vote, followed by Lewandowski in third place as well, with 11%.
Lionel Messi, 34, who won the Ballon d’Or 6 times, won the King’s Cup with Barcelona, before leading Argentina to crown the Copa America, the first tournament he won with the “Tango”.
The Argentine star has great support for winning the Golden Ball, even from some of his competitors, most notably the Italian Jorginho, who won the European Nations Cup with his country, and the European Champions League with Chelsea, who recently admitted that he believes that Messi deserves to win it.
Jorginho said, in a recent interview: “If I win the Ballon d’Or instead of Messi, it will be a scandal, he should always win it.”
Messi, along with Jorginho, Benzema and Lewandowski, in addition to Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, are the most prominent candidates to win this valuable award, which will be officially announced tomorrow, Monday, at a ceremony in the French capital, Paris.
