Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker said today, Tuesday, that Airbus must recognize the problem of paint defects, which is a “serious issue”.
In his interview with the Aviation Club in London, Al-Baker indicated that the European aircraft manufacturer does not know the cause of this problem.
He added: “They admitted that they are working to find a solution, which means that they still do not have a solution.”
Reuters had earlier quoted sources in the aviation sector that Qatar Airways had disagreed with Airbus over the paint of the A350 plane.
The agency indicated that this heated dispute threatens to delay the resumption of the delivery of European aircraft to the Gulf airline.
Qatar Airways prides itself on exceptional scrutiny of detail to match a premium brand, but airline executives have accused it of using such details in the past to delay delivery of planes no longer needed, a claim the airline has repeatedly denied.
