French court indicts Nexa

Nixa Technologies

The French judiciary has officially accused the French company “Nexa Technologies” of “complicity” in the case of Egypt’s sale of surveillance equipment.

A judicial investigation was opened in 2017, after a complaint filed by the International Federation for Human Rights and the League for Human Rights, with the support of the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies.

The organizations relied on an investigation by “Telerama” magazine, which revealed that Egypt sold a “eavesdropping system” worth ten million euros in March 2014.

Called Cerebro, this program makes it possible to track electronic communications, for example from an email address or a phone number.
