The United States Reaffirms President Biden’s Support For Egypt’s Water Security


The United States of America reiterated President Biden’s support for Egypt’s water security, and called on the United States and Egypt in the joint statement of the strategic dialogue between the two countries to resume negotiations on an agreement on the Renaissance Dam under the auspices of the African Union President, in line with the presidential statement issued by the United Nations Security Council on September 15 2021, and 2015 Declaration of Principles Agreement.

The United States and Egypt affirmed their firm commitment to the national security of the two countries and stability in the Middle East. Egypt commended the United States’ role in Egypt’s economic development, and the United States’ provision of defense equipment to Egypt, as well as joint cooperation to enhance Egypt’s defense capabilities.

Noting the approaching centenary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Egypt in 2022, the two sides reaffirmed the importance of the strategic partnership between the United States and Egypt, and identified target areas for deepening bilateral and regional cooperation, including economic and trade affairs, education, cultural issues, and consular affairs. , human rights, justice and law enforcement, defense and security, and they also agreed on the importance of holding this dialogue periodically.

The United States and Egypt stressed the importance of holding elections in Libya on December 24, and supported the work plan of the Libyan Joint Military Commission [5 + 5] To expel all foreign forces, fighters and mercenaries. The US and Egyptian sides also discussed the situation in Sudan, the settlement of regional conflicts, and the humanitarian crises in Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, and agreed to continue high-level consultations on issues of the Middle East and Africa.
