Today, Friday, the media reported that the Tunisian police thwarted an attack in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior, amid a heavy security alert in its vicinity.
Mosaique FM radio reported that, “Agents of a continental patrol stationed near the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior on Habib Bourguiba Street, a short time ago, confronted a young man who was carrying a white weapon, who is likely to have tried to storm the ministry’s headquarters.”
And she added, “He was dealt with by firing a bullet at him that hit one of his legs, to be controlled and an ambulance called for help, which took him to a hospital amid tight security.”
The local newspaper, Al-Shorouk, also confirmed that, “a short while ago, a person was arrested in front of the Ministry of Interior after he was shot after he tried to attack a security officer with a cleaver.”
Eyewitnesses said that there was a heavy mobilization of the police in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior, while a video spread on Twitter showing policemen firing at a person on Habib Bourguiba Street.
