A person has died after being attacked by a shark while surfing off the coast of California, authorities announced.
Police in the coastal city of Morro Bay said that the authorities responded on Friday morning to reports of a person on a coast who was pulled out of the water after an attack believed to be by a shark, and he did not show any signs of life.
Officials, upon arrival at the scene of the accident, officially confirmed the death of the victim.
The police pointed out that the authorities decided not to close the coasts in anticipation of new attacks, while calling on people to stay away from the water during the next 24 hours.
Local authorities indicated that the San Luis Obispo County Coroner’s Office was able to identify the victim, but it has not yet been released to the public.
