A Russian comment on a senator’s statements regarding a “nuclear strike on Russia”

A Russian comment on the statements of a senator regarding

The Russian Embassy in the United States described as “irresponsible and ill-considered” the statements of Republican Senator Roger Wicker about the possible use of nuclear weapons against Russia due to the situation around Ukraine.

“Such statements are irresponsible. We advise everyone who is not enlightened to carefully read the joint statement of the presidents of Russia and the United States of June 16, 2021. This document confirms the commitment of the two countries to the principle that there can be no winners in a nuclear war, nor should Unleash it.”

And the embassy pointed out in its statement that “the American politician serving in the legislature is not appropriate for him to joke about nuclear weapons.”

In its statement, the embassy also questioned what interests the Mississippi senator promotes – the interests of Ukraine or the interests of the US military-industrial complex – against the background of the fact that his state includes the offices of Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, General Atomics and others, (companies specializing in the manufacture of defense systems and weapons). .

The embassy statement comes after the senator’s statements earlier, in an interview with Fox News, in which Wicker recommended, in his comment on the situation related to the Ukraine crisis, that US President Joe Biden does not rule out the possibility of a pre-emptive nuclear strike on Russia in the event of an aggravation of the Ukrainian crisis.

It is noteworthy that Kiev and Western countries recently expressed their concern about the alleged intensification of “aggressive actions” by Russia near the borders of Ukraine. Which Moscow has repeatedly denied these accusations against it, explaining that it does not threaten anyone and does not intend to attack anyone, and uses statements of “aggression” as a pretext to deploy more NATO military equipment near Russias borders.
