Dr. Ahmed Turk, Director General of Advocacy Research and former Undersecretary of the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf, said that horoscopes and astronomy are claims, not sciences.
Turk emphasized that astronomy is based on guesswork only and has no scientific basis.
He added, via the “Sada Al-Balad” channel, that belief in horoscopes and astronomy is forbidden by Sharia.
He continued that the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whoever goes to a fortune-teller and asks him about something and believes him, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days.”
He pointed out that the Prophet Muhammad said: Whoever goes to a priest and believes what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad.
