The movie Hudas Salon is based on real events, and delves into the concepts of loyalty, betrayal and freedom, through events that take place in a hairdressing shop in Bethlehem, owned by a woman named Huda. A young mother named Reem visits the store periodically to change her haircut; Things are turned upside down when they are filmed in disturbing places because of Hoda, who is trying to blackmail her into doing what is against her principles. Reem has to choose between her honor and betraying her country. The film stars Ali Suleiman, Manal Awad and Maysa Abdel Hadi, and produced by Hani Abu Asaad and Amira Diab. and Mohamed Hefzy.
Hani Abu-Assad, a Palestinian screenwriter and director, is considered one of the most famous and most important contemporary Arab directors. His list of works includes Arab films that have achieved exceptional international success. The film Paradise Now (2005) was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film and won the Golden Globe, and Omar (2013), which was also nominated for an Oscar. As the best foreign film, and in 2017, he directed his first Hollywood movie, The Mountain Between Us, starring Kate Winslet and Idris Elba, and the film opened the 39th Cairo International Film Festival, and Hodas Salon is his latest work.
