“Moon’s visit to Cairo marks the first visit by a South Korean president to Egypt in 16 years,” Yonhap News Agency quoted the presidential office in Seoul as saying.

In this context, it was reported that the two presidents are expected to agree on a joint feasibility study for a bilateral free trade agreement, which, if concluded, would be South Koreas first free trade agreement with an African country.

The South Korean president will also attend a “business forum, where companies from the two countries plan to discuss how to enhance cooperation in electric vehicles, information technology and transportation.”

It is noteworthy that Egypt is the last leg of the South Korean president’s tour that included 3 countries in the Middle East, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, in addition to Egypt.
