Africa Cup of Nations .. the lead for Cameroon despite the draw .. Burkina qualified

Burkina Faso qualified for the round of 16 of the African Nations Cup in Cameroon after drawing 1-1 with its Ethiopian counterpart on Monday in the last round of Group A matches.

Cyril Bayala advanced with a goal for Burkina Faso in the 24th minute, then Gitaneh Kebede equalized for Ethiopia from a penalty kick in the 50th minute.

Burkina Faso raised its score to four points in second place, ahead of only Cape Verde (Cape Verde) team, which is third, and Ethiopia at the bottom of the group by one point.

Thus, Burkina Faso will accompany its Cameroonian counterpart to the final of the African Nations Cup in Group A.

In the other match in the same group, Cameroon finished the group stage at the top of the standings, despite a 1-1 draw with Cap Verde.

Vincent Aboubacar scored a goal for Cameroon in the 39th minute, then Gary Rodriguez equalized for Cap Verde in the 53rd minute.

Cameroon retained the lead, raising its score to seven points, while Cape Verde remained in third place, waiting for the opportunity to qualify as one of the four best teams that ranked third in their groups.

Vincent Abubakar achieved a unique achievement after scoring 5 goals in 3 matches in the 2021 African Cup, as no Cameroonian player has ever scored more in one edition of the tournament, equal to Samuel Etoo, who scored the same number (5 goals) in both the 2006 and 2008 editions.

Abubakar became the first player to score in 3 consecutive African Nations Cup matches since Kabananga with DR Congo in January 2017.

The final standings of Group A in the African Nations:

Cameroon – 7 points.

Burkina Faso – 4 points.

Cap Verde – 4 points.

Ethiopia – 1 point.
