Al-Ahly loses 8 players from the “tentative” list for the World Cup

Al-Ahly lost 8 players from its “initial” list for the World Cup, which was revealed by FIFA last Thursday, after the injuries that hit its ranks in the League Cup.

Salah Mohsen, the Al-Ahly striker, had a successful metatarsal surgery today, Saturday, in a private hospital, after he was fractured, which required surgical intervention and fixing it with a “nail.”

Ahmed Abu Abla, Al-Ahly’s doctor, told his club’s official website that the player’s condition is stable after his surgery and he will be absent for a period ranging between 7 to 8 weeks from the team’s ranks, during which he will undergo a physiotherapy and rehabilitation program.

In a related context, Abu Abla granted Ahmed Nabil “Koka”, the star of the young team whose name was included in the World Cup list, a negative rest of up to a month and a half due to his suffering from some complications of Corona.

In official statements, Abu Abla explained his decision and said, “The player underwent rigorous medical examinations during the past days after he was infected with the Corona virus, and it was proven that his condition is completely stable and he does not suffer from any symptoms of Corona and his suffering from complications is a condition that has become common for some athletes after recovering from Corona now.”

With regard to the case of Mohamed Mahmoud, Al-Ahly’s doctor revealed that the x-rays that the player performed this morning proved that he suffers from a strain in the posterior muscle, due to which he is absent from the team’s group training for up to 10 days, after which he returns to participate with the team.

While the x-rays proved that Hossam Hassan, the team’s striker, suffered from an injury in the calf that requires a rest period of up to two weeks, which means his absence from the team’s World Cup list.

Al-Ahly had lost from the preliminary World Cup list announced by FIFA last Thursday, Akram Tawfiq, Badr Banon, Mahmoud Metwally for injury, and Mahmoud Kahraba on loan.

The FIFA Club World Cup will be held from February 3-12, 2022 in the United Arab Emirates.
