Amer Hussein, a member of the Egyptian Football Association, said that there was pressure on the federation to dispense with Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, after losing to Nigeria in the first round of the African Nations Cup.
Amer Hussein added, in statements to the “MBC Egypt” screen: “There is no tension with Carlos Queiroz (Malhaqnash Nasheed), there was pressure after the first match for his departure, and this will not happen. It is impossible to dispense with a coach after losing a match.”
And about Queiroz’s contract and the fact that there is a penalty clause of 42 million pounds, he replied: “There is a contract in the world that will be a secret.”
He continued, “I do not know the truth of this condition. I have not seen the contract yet. Khaled Al-Dardali has the contracts, and he is the only one who knows the terms of the contract.”
He continued, “The new federation does not agree to these conditions, so Queiroz contracted with the Egyptian Federation, through which it was agreed to go to the World Cup. We do not agree to that because we want to compete for all championships.”
And he concluded: “Queiroz understands the goal of the union, and this was evident through his statements at the press conference.”
Carlos Queiroz took over the leadership of the Egyptian national team after the dismissal of Hossam El-Badri from his position after a 1-1 draw against Gabon in the World Cup qualifiers.
Queiroz was under great pressure after the Egyptian team lost 1-0 to Nigeria, in the framework of the African Nations Cup, which is currently being held in Cameroon.
The Egyptian team is preparing to face its Sudanese rival, this evening, Wednesday, within the calculations of the third and final round of Group D.
The ranking of Group D is as follows: Nigeria (6 points) – Egypt (3 points) – Equatorial Guinea (point) – Sudan (point).
