The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy, Admiral Ali Reza Tanksiri, said that the United States rescued Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq war in the eighties of the last century.

He added: “During the first three years of the Iran-Iraq war, we were victorious, and Saddam was taking his last breath, but the United States saved him from defeat by equipping and supplying his forces with weapons.”

He said, “At that time, there were traitorous countries that helped Saddam with $25 billion or sent equipment and weapons to Saddam’s regime to defeat the Iranian forces.”

He continued, “Iran today has the ability to manufacture defense and military equipment.”

Referring to the confrontations with US forces in the Gulf, he said: “Iranian naval forces offered martyrs to be able to deal painful blows to the United States, and this has been achieved on more than one occasion.”
