Today, Saturday, a prominent Sudanese military official arrived in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on an official visit, against the backdrop of ongoing tensions between the two neighboring countries, over several files, including the Renaissance Dam.

The Sudanese Sovereignty Council confirmed in a statement that the visit of its Vice President, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (known as Hemedti), to Addis Ababa will last for two days and will include talks with a number of officials with the aim of “discussing the course of bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them, to serve the interests of the two countries in all fields.” all”.

The Sudanese official was received at Addis Ababa airport by the Ethiopian Minister of Defense Abraham Bly.

The council published on its channel in the “Telegram” application a picture showing the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi Ahmed, receiving Dagalo.

This comes against the background of the dispute between Addis Ababa on the one hand and Khartoum and Cairo on the other hand regarding the Renaissance Dam file, in addition to military tensions on the border between Sudan and Ethiopia over the ownership of some lands.

In November, Sudan announced the killing of six of its soldiers in the disputed border region of Al-Fashqa, blaming the “Ethiopian army and militias” for responsibility, but Addis Ababa blamed these border clashes on the rebel “Tigray People’s Liberation Front” forces.
