Jonas Mendes, goalkeeper and captain of the Guinea-Bissau national team, expressed his happiness at his recovery from the Corona virus.

Guinea-Bissau is preparing to face Egypt today, Saturday, in the second round of the group stage of the 2021 African Cup of Nations, Cameroon.

“We have a difficult match ahead, but we believe in our ability to achieve a positive result,” Jonas said through the national team’s media center.

He added, “I have been in quarantine for the past few days, but I have been able to train and feel fine to lead my country.”

He continued, “Aside from Mohamed Salah, Egypt has players who are able to decide the match, but we will focus on winning the match.”

“I am happy to have recovered from the virus and to be in the group again, I hope the rest of the players recover and we work towards our goals together.”

Guinea-Bissau has one point in its tally after drawing 0-0 against Sudan in the first round, while Egypt lost to Nigeria with a clean goal.

Jonas, the historical goalkeeper of Guinea-Bissau, participated in the past two editions of the African Nations with his country, but he missed Sudan’s first match in the current edition.
