Ahmed Jaafar, the former Zamalek player, said that his club almost contracted with Hossam Ghaly, the former Al-Ahly captain, noting that the Red Team negotiated with him to obtain his services.

Jaafar, a player for Telecom Egypt, Enppi, Petrojet, and the former pioneers of the army and Arsenal, recalled his career through the Zamalek channel, saying: “Al-Ahly negotiated with me.”

When asked whether the financial compensation hindered Hossam Ghaly from joining Zamalek during the reign of coach Hossam Hassan, he replied, “Yes.”

He added, “Hossam Ghaly and Mohamed Shawky, Zamalek negotiated with them. Mohamed Nagy (Gedo) also, was sitting in my house after signing for Zamalek, but I do not know what happened after that to move to Al-Ahly.”

Jaafar participated in 227 matches in the Egyptian Premier League, scoring 58 goals and sending 20 assists.

He won the Egyptian Cup 3 times with Zamalek.

He represented Egypt in 4 matches and scored one goal.
