Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has set his latest goals in the transfer market, as he seeks to sign Barcelona defender and star Ronald Araujo.

Araujos contract with Barcelona is still in place until the summer of 2023, and Perez hopes that the ongoing renewal negotiations between the player and his club will fail to pounce on him.

Sport newspaper, citing the “Sin Concesiones” program, said that Perez is very impressed with what Araujo offers and considers it to be a special support for Real Madrid’s defenses.

Real Madrid’s interest in contracting with Araujo is not new, as the royal club led by Perez tried to include the player when he emerged in Uruguay, but Barcelona successfully kidnapped him at the time.

Now, hopes are renewed, given the situation of Araujo, and considering that there is an opportunity to sign him for free in 2023, or Barcelona bargaining for the remaining year in his contract next summer.

Dembele and Busquets cause an outcry for Xavi!

Real Madrid is looking at the moment to sign a central defender, always moving towards free deals that comfort the club economically, like David Alaba last summer.

Barcelona has already opened the line of negotiations with Araujo recently, but so far there is no agreement between the two parties.

The Spanish newspapers had indicated Araujos desire to stay with Barcelona, with the requirement to receive a salary through which he would feel the Catalan club’s “appreciation” of him.

All in all, 22-year-old Araujo has attracted the attention of many English clubs since his successful start with Barcelona in the last two years.

In practice, it seems difficult for Real Madrid to negotiate with the player without Barcelonas knowledge or pressure from afar, especially since the relationship between Perez and Barca president, Joan Laporta, is currently very good.

It is noteworthy that the Uruguayan international arrived in Barcelona in 2018 from Boston River for nearly 5 million euros, and since 2019 he made his way with the first team of Barca after shining with the reserve team.
