Senegalese Edouard Mendy wins the best goalkeeper award in the world

The Senegalese goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, was named the best goalkeeper in the world at the 2021 “The Best” awards, presented by the International Football Association “FIFA”.

Mendy was announced the winner of the award today, Monday, during the FIFA ceremony, which was held as a virtual event at the headquarters of FIFA in the Swiss city of Zurich, without the presence of the contenders for the various awards or the guests due to the crisis of the outbreak of the new “Corona” virus infection.

Mendy competed for the award with the veteran German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich, and Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma, the current Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper and former AC Milan.

It is noteworthy that Mendy is currently participating with the Senegal national team in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
