A few hours separate us from knowing the identity of the winner of the “The Best” award for the best player in the world, which is organized under the organization of the International Federation of Football “FIFA”, and for which the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool player, is competing.
FIFA has previously announced the final list of candidates to win the award for the best in the world, which consists of the Egyptian Mohamed Salah, the Argentine Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain and the Polish Robert Lewandowski, the striker of Bayern Munich.
Those with the right to vote were divided into four categories, each with the same percentage of voting, which is 25%, and those who have the right to vote are the coach of each team, the captain of each team, a journalist representing each country, in addition to the mass vote.
“Yalla Kora” contacted English journalists to talk about the possibility of Salah winning the “The Best” award:
David Lynch, a journalist for the British newspaper, “Mirror”, believes that Salah deserved to be nominated for the “The Best” award: “There is no doubt that Salah deserves to be nominated in full, he has been in a very great condition this year.”
“But I wonder if Robert Lewandowski will finally get his right which he missed in the year the Ballon d’Or was not awarded,” he added.
And he concluded: “Perhaps Lewandowski’s scoring achievements with his team, which have achieved trophies for them in recent years, deserve to be recognized.”
For his part, Mark Jones, journalist for the newspaper “Mirror”, believes that Salah is the best in the world now: “I strongly believe that Salah is the best player in the world right now, so I think he deserves to win the award, but with that, I am not sure that he will win it.”
He added: “I was not surprised that he did not win the Ballon d’Or – even though the seventh place was very low – because Liverpool had problems in the 2020-21 season due to injuries, and therefore was not able to compete for championships, in addition to the fact that the Nations Cup was cancelled. Africa, where he was unable to achieve success with Egypt, just as Messi did with Argentina.”
And he continued: “If the “The Best” award is about who is the best, it is definitely for Salah, it is clear that he is the best player in the English Premier League and should win all the awards for the best scorer and best player at the end of the season.”
He concluded: “But I don’t think the timing will be right for him to win The Best, but if he wins the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt and wins the Champions League with Liverpool, I can definitely see him win the Ballon d’Or.”
