Kim Kyun-hee, wife of South Korean opposition party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol
Kim Kyun-hee, the wife of South Korean opposition party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, said scandals known as the “Mi To Movement” came to light because the victims were not being paid.

She made the remarks to a journalist with the liberal “Voice of Seoul” YouTube channel in one of 52 phone calls between July and December last year.
The calls were recorded, and part of them were broadcast by the MBC TV channel, after the court allowed its broadcast, with some parts deleted, despite the People’s Power Party’s request to judicially prevent the broadcast.
“Conservatives pay. They don’t use people for free,” Kim said, adding, “That’s why you don’t see a lot of Me2 cases between us. It happens when you don’t pay.”
Kim was apparently referring to a series of sex scandals involving prominent liberal politicians, including former South Chungcheong Province governor Ahn Hee-jung.
Kim also advised conservatives not to follow the liberals’ lead in not paying victims, adding that it is not known when events will come back to haunt them.
For its part, the channel stated that Kim sent a written response to the radios requests for comment and apologized to the people for “inappropriate statements” in the context of criticizing certain liberal figures involved in cases of sexual exploitation.
