Ahmed Abu Abla, head of the medical staff of Al-Ahly team, revealed the developments of the cases of Hamdi Fathi and Mohamed Abdel Moneim before the upcoming Al-Hilal match.
Al-Ahly will host the Sudanese Al-Hilal team at the end of the group stage matches in the African Champions League.
In statements to the official Al-Ahly club website, Abu Abla said: “Hamdi Fathi’s case is very reassuring.”
He revealed, “Hamdi Fathi suffered a shoulder injury during his participation with the national team in the Senegal match.”
He added, “The medical examinations conducted by the player confirmed that he had a bruise, and he will undergo a new examination tomorrow, Friday, before the team’s training begins.”
Abu Abla stressed, “Things are not worrisome about Hamdi Fathi’s injury, but the medical examination is to check on his condition more.”
The team trained at the Touch Stadium after the rest period that it obtained yesterday, within the program set by the technical staff led by Pitso Mosimane.
As for Abdel Moneim, Abu Abla said, “The player starts running around the field today on the sidelines of group training.”
He revealed, “Abdel Moneim will participate in parts of the team’s group training, starting tomorrow, after using a nose guard.”
Abdel Moneim had suffered a broken nose during his participation with the Egyptian national team against Senegal in the first World Cup qualifiers.
Abu Abla concluded his statements, “The condition of Abdel Moneim will be evaluated by playing with a face protection mask (the nose guard).”
Al-Ahly’s draw against Al-Hilal is sufficient to qualify for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League.
