FilGoal | News | Al-Khelaifi attacks Perez: The Ukrainian people are dying while fighting for the Super League

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, raised the controversy with his statements regarding his meeting with Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, after the Champions League match.

Real Madrid beat Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals 4-2 on aggregate.

“They know there is no chance, people are dying in Ukraine and they have nowhere to sleep while they are fighting for the Super League,” Al-Khelaifi told the BBC.

“I was offered 400 million euros to participate in the project, but I refused,” he added.

And he continued, “If I was thinking of myself, I could have done it, especially during the Corona virus, but what about the fans and what football represents to them.”

And he continued, “I spoke to Florentino Perez in the Champions League match and he told me we have to get to a point where we can talk to you, I was very harsh with him, I told him that I did not want to be in that plan.”

The Super League is a championship whose name was repeated for two days last April and was killed in its infancy, but it still troubles the local and continental federations, amid the clubs adherence to it.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are still fighting for the survival of the idea of the Super League.

The idea of the European Super League comes with the participation of only the major teams, which was rejected by the European and International Federations.
