Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi decided to call West Ham United winger Said Benrahma to take part in the match against Cameroon on Tuesday.

The Cameroonian national team is a guest of its Algerian counterpart in the second leg of the decisive qualifying round for the 2022 World Cup, after losing the first leg with a goal.

Belmadi called up Benrahma after he was absent from the list he chose for the home and away matches against Cameroon.

The player was seen on Monday morning at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, before arriving in Algeria a few hours later.

“Said Benrahma joins the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa to join the Greens preparatory camp in anticipation of the Cameroon match,” the Algerian Federation said in a statement.

The player arrived about 31 hours before the match starts at half past nine in the evening, Cairo time.

The match will take place at Mustafa Tchaker Stadium in Blida, on Tuesday evening.

Algeria defeated Cameroon 1-0 in the first leg match at Jaboma Stadium on Friday.

The two teams are competing for a place in the Qatar World Cup.


While the other four seats allocated to the African continent are contested by Egypt against Senegal, Ghana against Nigeria, Tunisia against Mali, and Morocco against the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

All return matches will take place on Tuesday.
