The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced disciplinary sanctions against four clubs due to what happened in the Champions League and Confederation Cup.

Esperance were deprived of their fans in two consecutive matches, which means playing without fans in the quarter-final match.

The decisions of the CAF Disciplinary Council witnessed penalties for the Tunisian clubs, Esperance, Etoile du Sahel, Moroccos Berkane, and Tunisias Sfaxien.

The penalties were as follows:

– Tunisian Esperance:

Esperance club was accused of misconduct by its fans due to throwing things on the field during the two matches between Etoile du Sahel, which took place on February 26, 2022 and March 12, 2022.

Given that Esperance had previously received a suspended sentence for committing similar behavior against Al-Ahly in the semi-finals of the African Champions League 2020-2021, the CAF Disciplinary Council decided to impose the following penalties.

Punishment: Esperance will play two matches without fans, so it will play Algerias CR Belouizdad on April 2nd and the quarter-final match at home without fans.

This is in addition to the imposition of a fine of $20,000.

Etoile Club has been accused of misconduct by its fans after throwing objects on the field in the team’s two matches against Esperance in the African Champions League.

The club has been accused of misconduct by its fans after throwing objects on the field during the Pyramids match on March 13th in the Confederation.

Punishment: Imposition of a fine of $16,000.
