Poland snatched the qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, after beating Sweden with two goals for free.

Poland played Sweden in the final of the European playoffs for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Poland managed to score two goals in the second half, to ascend the Polish team to the World Cup for the ninth time in its history and the second in a row.

The first half witnessed a relative superiority from the Swedish team, which controlled the ball more than Poland and hit the goal on three occasions.

In the second half, Sweden dominated the ball largely after the early advance of Poland.

Poland advanced in the 49th minute through Robert Lewandowski from the penalty spot.

Lewandowski hit the penalty kick to the left of the Sweden goalkeeper to open the scoring for Poland.

Despite Sweden’s attempts to score a draw, Poland snatched the second goal in the 73rd minute through Peter Zelensky.

Poland had qualified for the final stage after the exclusion of Russia due to the war against Ukraine.

As for Sweden, it qualified after defeating the Czech Republic 1-0 in the semi-finals of the European play-off.

The Polish national team had climbed to the last edition, which was held in Russia 2018, and was at the bottom of its group, which included Colombia, Japan and Senegal.

As for Sweden, it failed to qualify for the thirteenth time in its history, and had participated in the last edition.
