WhatsApp offers you an optional two-step verification feature that adds more security to your WhatsApp account. With two-step verification (also known as two-factor authentication), you can add an extra layer of security to your account in case someone gains access to your device.
After setting up 2SV, when you open WhatsApp on your smartphone, you will need to enter a six-digit PIN to access your account, and when 2-step verification is enabled, you have the option to enter your email address. This allows WhatsApp to send a reset link via email in case you forget your PIN, and also helps protect your account.
And if you forgot your WhatsApp PIN, you can reset it by following the steps below. Also, it is important to note that the process is the same for both iPhone and Android devices.
1. Open the WhatsApp application on your smartphone.
2. Click on Forgot your PIN? Selection.
3. Click on Send Email. A reset link will be sent to the email address you provided.
4. In the email, follow the reset link and tap Confirm.
5. Open the WhatsApp application.
6. Click Forgot your PIN
7. Click on Reset.
But note: Deleting or reinstalling WhatsApp will not disable or reset the two-step verification PIN.
If you do not provide a PIN reset email address or if you cannot access the email address on the account to reset the PIN, you will only be able to reset the two-step verification PIN after seven days.
According to WhatsApp, there is no option for users to speed up the 7-day timeframe or disable their account after enabling two-step verification.
