Negev Summit: Emirati regret for the “lost of 43 years”, joint Moroccan-Israeli origins, and a picture of remembrance are at the forefront of the controversy

The Negev Summit, in which the Israeli Foreign Minister hosted his counterparts from Egypt, the UAE, Morocco and Bahrain, in the presence of the US Secretary of State, occupied the pioneers of social networking sites, and made headlines and news. But a photo and two statements gained the most attention from followers and sparked controversy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Yair Lapid, received, in the Negev desert, the foreign ministers: Abdullah bin Zayed, the Egyptian Sameh Shoukry, the Moroccan Nasser Bourita, and the Bahraini Abdellatif Al-Zayani, at a summit attended by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

This is the first time that Israel hosts this number of senior Arab officials.

Israel attached great importance to this summit, which it described as “historic”. And the Israelis celebrated the summit on social media, through official accounts of institutions and people.
