Dr. Ashraf Tadros, professor of astronomy at the institute, said – in a statement to the Middle East News Agency today, Thursday – that the first of these phenomena begins tomorrow, which is the appearance of the new moon (the new moon of Ramadan), which rises with the sun and sets with it on that day, when the moon’s luminous face is toward the sun and the dark face is toward the sun. Earth so the moon will not be visible in the sky all night on that day.
He added that this day is the best time of the month to observe faint celestial bodies such as galaxies, star clusters and stars of distant constellations, and accordingly, the first appearance of the Ramadan crescent will be on the day after tomorrow, Saturday.
He pointed to the conjunction of the two planets Mars and Saturn on April 5, since their sunrise at three oclock in the morning on this day until they disappear in the momentum of the morning twilight as a result of the sunrise, explaining that the juxtaposition of these two planets can be observed from April 3 to 7 at dawn on this date as well. .
He pointed out that on April 9, the moon will be associated with the star Pollux (Beta Gemini/twin), as we see them side by side in the sky at nightfall until sunset at one thirty in the middle of the night.
He added that on April 10, the moon will be associated with the star crowd, the beehive in the constellation Cancer, where we see them next to each other in the sky at nightfall and until sunset at two in the morning of the next day, explaining that seeing this scene requires magnifying glasses or a small telescope, as the star crowd The beehive is not visible to the naked eye.
He confirmed the full moon (Badr Ramadan) on April 16, when the moon’s disk is completely complete and its brightness reaches 100%. .
He explained that on April 23-22, the peak of the lyre meteor shower, where this phenomenon occurs annually in the period between April 16 to 25, and these meteors are seen as if they came from the constellation Lyra (the lyre), and the harp meteors are produced from the remnants of comet C/1861 G1 Thatcher, which It was discovered in 1861.
He added that the number of meteors in it reaches about 20 meteors per hour and can be seen with the naked eye provided that the sky is dark and free of clouds, explaining that the light of the moon this year may obscure the glow of some weak meteors and the best viewing is from a completely dark place away from the city lighting after midnight Until the crack of dawn.
He said that from April 24 until April 30, the moon will be seen with the four planets Venus, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn in a wonderful scene at dawn, where the moon is associated with Saturn (they are adjacent in the sky) on April 25, then the moon is associated with Mars on April 26, then the moon is associated Venus and Jupiter will conjugate on April 27, and Venus and Jupiter will conjugate on April 30.
He added that these conjunctions occur at dawn, approximately two hours before sunrise, until the phenomenon disappears in the momentum of morning twilight as a result of sunrise.
And he confirmed that the planet Mercury will reach its maximum elongation from the sun on April 29 by about 20.6 degrees, and it is visible in the western sky in the evening immediately after sunset, which is the best time to watch and photograph the planet Mercury until its sunset at approximately eight in the evening.
He explained that on April 30, a partial solar eclipse will occur, but it is not visible in Egypt or the Arab region, as it is visible only in the southeastern Pacific and southern South America, and its best view is in Argentina.
He pointed out that on the same day, April 30, the new moon (Shawwal) will appear in the sky, as the moon rises with the sun and sets with it on that day, as the moon’s luminous face is toward the sun and the dark face is toward the earth, so the moon will not be visible in the sky throughout the night.
