Carlos Queiroz, the Portuguese coach for the Egyptian national team, announced the end of his journey with the national team, and his departure from coaching the national team, after failing to reach the 2022 World Cup, after losing on penalties to Senegal.

Carlos Queiroz wrote through his personal account on the social networking site “Twitter”: “The dream is over. We are doing our best, but today it was not enough. From the bottom of my heart, I extend my gratitude to the Egyptian Federation for the honor of training the national team.”

He continued: “To all my players and assistants, my appreciation to you and thanks for your humility, you will always be in my heart.”

He continued, “It has been a privilege for me to work and have the help of these dedicated professionals, and great friends, without you nothing would be possible for me in my life. “.

It is worth noting that the Senegalese football team succeeded in securing the second seat of the African continent in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, after beating its Egyptian counterpart 3-1 on penalties today, Tuesday, in the second leg of the final round of the World Cup qualifiers.

The two teams exchanged wins at their stadiums with the same result, as the Egyptian team had previously won at home 1 / zero in the first leg last Friday, while the Senegalese team won at home with the same result today, home to a tie in the total result of the two matches, and the penalty shootout decided the difficult confrontation between them.

The Senegalese team became the 22nd team to reserve its place in the World Cup after the Qatari national team representing the host country and the teams of Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Serbia, England, Switzerland and the Netherlands from the European continent, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay from South America, Iran, South Korea, Japan and Saudi Arabia from Asia and the Ghanaian team from Africa .

The Senegalese team is playing the World Cup for the third time in its history, after participating in the 2002 editions in South Korea and Japan and 2018 in Russia.

This is the second time that the Senegalese team has defeated its Egyptian counterpart (grandchildren of the Pharaohs) on penalties in a few weeks. The team had previously defeated the Pharaohs on penalties 4/2 in the final match of the African Nations Cup hosted by Cameroon early this year.

The Senegalese team ended the original time of the match in his favour, with a clean goal scored by Boulaye Dia in the third minute.
